Let's just say that 85% of your final grade is currently 84.57 with the additional 15% to be determined.
Just set up a simple equation and solve for x
0.85 * 84.57 + 0.15x = 86
71.8845 + 0.15x = 86
0.15x = 86-71.8845
0.15x = 14.1155
x = 94.10333
You will have to get at least a 94 to have a chance. (Depending on how your instructor rounds your grades.
If you get a 100% on your final grade, you'll get an 86.8845%
Good luck!

84.75(.85) + 100(.15) = 87.03
If you get a 100 percent on this assignment and there are no other extra credit oportunities your final grade will be an 87. Remember that some teachers curve the class at the end so your grade might go above that.
84.75(.85) + x(.15)=86
x=93
The lowest grade you can get in order to get a B is a 93%

If your last assignment is 15% of the grade, you mean that so far you got 84.57 out of 85?
