What's the difference between evaluating the expression and solving the equation?

I won't list all of the problems but.. Here are a few.

The directions say:
Evaluate the following expressions. Show your work.
1. log3 27

2. log2 32

Solve the following logarithmic equations. Show your work.

1. logx 16 = 4

2. logd 12 = 6

What's the difference between evaluating them and solving them?
I looked at the examples and they look basically identical.
Should I just solve them all? Or for evaluating the expression, does it want me to complete it with whatever I found the x value to be?

Two differences: the expressions do not have an x, and they do not have an equals sign.

"Evaluate the expression" means to find the number that it's equal to.

"Solve" means to solve for the variable.

For example, you would evaluate this expression:

30 / 5

But you would solve this equation:

30 / x = 6

Notice that an expression has no equal sign, but an equation has an equal sign.

There's no difference. It's just worded differently, basically they're just synonyms in a way.
