Other words for "step function" include "greatest integer function" and "floor and ceiling function".

I know how to plug in the y thing, but I don't know how to get the symbol for the step function. Help!

I am not sure that there is a way to do step functions on a graphing calculator. You might try goggling it. "Step Function TI-84"

Typically, step functions are merely piecewise functions with constant values, such as       {5, for x≤0 y = {3, for 03 You may graph those in separate Y-variables. Example Y1 = 5/(X≤0) Y2 = 3/(03) Absolute functions can simply be graphed with the [Math] > Num > 1:abs( command. Example: Y1 = abs(X)+2

Dude I would recommend TI-89. I failed my calculus course because I refused to buy 89 and try to work with my old 84. It's just way too easy to do this with 89 you'll see
