Hey guys. So, my trial exam for School Certificate is tomorrow, and I have no idea how to answer this practice exam question. Need help!

" The stem and leaf plot represents the results achieved by 26 students in an assessment task

Stem / Leaf
3 / 3 4 5 5
4 / 1 5 6 7 8
6 / 2 3 3 6 8
7 / 0 0 3 6 9 9
8 / 1 2 2 3
9 / 4 -unknown-

The range of marks achieved by the students was 64.
What number is represented by -unknown-?"

Alright, so the answer sheet says that the unknown is 7, but how do I get it?

Range is Largest value minus smallest value

For this case, smallest is 33.

Largest is 9(unknown)

9(unknown) - 33 = 64

97 - 33 = 64

so answer is 7.

From this data you know the smallest value is 33.

The range is 64 so the largest value must be 33+64. And that's where the 7 comes from.

90 + n -- (30 + 3) = 64 Or n = 64 + 33 -- 90 = 7

The range is high minus the low.

So x-33=64

x=97

properly, in case you're so outstanding, you particularly have no concern getting a mark far larger than a C, must you? in spite of each little thing, you're afflicted approximately it now. no person who's smart gets grade D at GCSE in spite of ways lots artwork they have accomplished. Take the rose colored glasses off and face actuality. you're suffering badly right here.
