you dont "get" them because you dont understand some basic rules of math like if you have an expression like
10(x+4) it means to take the number outside the bracket and multiply it by each number inside, and then use the adding or subtracting as it is applied. The above example becomes
10x + 40
Next...all these x's and k's and so forth just mean something is being done to a certain unknown number, and you have to figure out what the mystery number is..in order to do this, you have to get the mystery number on its own on one side. You do this by adding subtracting multiplying and dividing. Simple stuff you learned in grade 1 or 2. What ever you do to one side, you do to the other side.
question 1
252g+216= 6264
252g+216-216=6264-216
252g=6048
252g/252=6048/252
g=24
question 2
9k-12=123
9k-12+12=123+12
9k=135
9k/9=135/9
k=15
question 3
OK if you dont understand question 3..you really are lost
18 divided by what = 2
obviously 18 divided by 9=2 therefore e=9!!!!!
but we'll work it out the way we should just to show you!!!
18/e=2
18/e*e =2*e
18=2e
18/2= 2e/2
9=e!!!
question 4
22d/2=154
22d/2*2=154*2
22d=308
22d/22=308/22
d=14
(OK NOW I'm going to throw one more concept into the works..the PROOF!!!
22(14/2)=152
22*7=152
is this right..does 22*7=152??? YES, well then we know that d is 14
question 5
OK come on you obviously know that 12/4 =3 just by looking at the question. so c=4
I'll let you practice with a few...
question 9...this is grade 1 stuff....don't let the k's screw with your mind!!!!
k+6=10
what oh what plus 6 =10 how about 4!!!!
k+6-6=10-6
k=4
question 10
this is tougher!!
(2x)/3 -14+14=4+14
2x/3=18
2x/3*3=18*3
2x=54
x=27
