Question:
Timber conversion question?
2012-09-06 07:28:34 UTC
I have an invoice in front of me for 100 pieces of timber, the dimensions of which are 150mm x 22mm x 4.8 metre lengths.

We price things for each length, for this we expect to pay £2.69 per length.

Therefore, 100 x £2.69 is £269.00.

However, the supplier has invoiced it differently, they have invoiced a quantity of 480, priced it at £205.00 per m3, giving a total of £324.72.

Or to put it another way, £324.72 divided by 100 is £3.24 per length that they have charged.

That is a difference of £55.72.

However, if I wanted to convert our price of £2.69 per length to their method of invoicing which is in unit m3, how do I do that?

[please dont copy only. try to understand first coz i m not providing solution for copy only but for the help in ur learning. so plz dont copy without understanding]

volume of each timbre = 0.15 x 0.022 x 4.80 m³ = 0.01584 m³

total volume = 1.584 m³

now, u should invoice £2.69/0.01584 = £169.8232 per m³

which will give u total of £(169.8232 x 1.584) or £268.99

hope it would be helpful

The volume of each piece of timber is exactly 0.01584m^3

So the price of 1m^3 of timber would be (1/0.01584) * 2.69 = 169.82 pounds

You divide 1 by 0.01584 to get the number of timber pieces that have a total volume of 1m^3

then multiply it by 2.69 which is the price of 1 timber piece to calculate the price of a m^3 of timber.
