These are "two-step" equations.
First step: either add or subtract
Second step: multiply or divide
4x - 6 = 2
add 6 to both sides:
4x = 8
divide both sides by 4:
x = 2
6x - 10 = -4
add 10 to both sides:
6x = 6
divide both sides by 6:
x = 1
that's it! ;)

Well these are just equations where you have to combine the constants to get x.
4x=4
x=1
6x=6
x=1
What I did in the first equation was add 6 to both sides. Therefore, 6+(-2) =4. I then divided both sides by 4 to get x=1.
for the second one, I added 10 to both sides. Therefore, -4+(10)=6. I then divided each side by 6 to get x=1.

Have you really looked at these equations and tried to figure them out?
4x-6 = -2
4x = -2+6 = 4 (added 6 to both sides)
x = 1 (divided both sides by 4)
6x-10=-4
6x = -4+10 = 6 (added10 to both sides)
x = 1 (divided both sides by 6)
Whatever you do to one side, you have to do to the other side at the same time.

4x-6=-2
+6 +6
4x=4
/4 /4
x=1
6x-10=-4
+10 +10
6x=6
/6 /6
x=1

pay attention in class... these really aren't that difficult.
