I'm not really sure how to do this type of function problem. Does anyone know how?
If 4((z/8)+(z/2))
is simplified as (4z/A), then what is the value of A?

Set them equal:
4((z/8)+(z/2)) = 4z/A
z/8 + z/2 = z/A
A = z/(z/8 + z/2)
A = 8/5.

4((z/8) + (z/2))
= 4((z/8) + (4z/8))
= 4((z+4z)/8)
=4(5z/8)
=4(z/1.6)
=4z/1.6
Thus A=1.6

that type of math is pointless...lol
are you really gonna use that in everyday life?
