My teacher gave us some homework tonight and it involves dividing a matrix. She never taught us this! Is it even possible to divide a 4x1 matrix?

Dividing matrices is just not a property of matrices. Let A, X and B be matrices. Additionally, Let X be the variable matrix. AX = B A*A^(-1) X = A^(-1)*B IX = A^(-1) * B X = A^(-1) * B

No, you can't divide matrices. But you can multiply a matrix with inverse of another matrix. This is possibly what you need.

no that operation can`t be performed, when you want to eliminate one matrix that is multiplying another, you must multiply by the inverse matrix, of the matrix that you need eliminate.
