13/3 I think fractional notation is where instead of having a mixed # (ex. 4 1/3) you have an improper fraction (ex. 13/3). I think. I just googled it and answers.com seems to agree with me. good luck!

13/3. when you see 4 1/3 it means you have 4 whole apple pies and 1/3 of a pie. if you want to convert find out how many 1/3rds are in each whole apple pie, so there are three thirds in a whole pie or 3/3. so if you have 4 whole pies that each contain 3 pieces then 4 wholes times 3 pieces each equals 12 pieces or 12/3 plus the 1/3 of the other pie gives you 13/3.
