Yeah, you should be okay, especially since the first year of university statistics isn't calculus-based, just algebra-based.

I've known several students that do poorly in calculus, but go on to excel in statistics. If you think you'd be interested in it, by all means, I'd encourage you to take it.

Calculus is different from statistics. Some majors require statistics like business. It won't hurt to get a head start especially if you can get credit for it towards major. Talk to your counselor or advisor.

I took college statistics (it was not the basic class either) and used NO calculus at all. Honestly most of the stuff was dealing with simple equations and everything you need to know will be taught.

Thats not a bad idea...i took the both of them. To me they seemed to have no correlation...and i thought statistics was much easier. Its all personal preference i suppose though. Good luck!

if its an intro stat course you should be able to handle it...

As far as I know statistics and calculus are two different math beasts like geometry and algebra. Did you know that calculus is actually analytical geometry? Most people are good at one and struggle with the other.

Statistics isn't geometry based, so you may have an easier time or a harder time with it.

I would seriously consider that you think long and hard about taking a college level math class. You definitely are not better off skipping math as many colleges have entrance exams, to place you for things like English and Math. You will find that you can forget a lot if you don't study a subject for an entire year. On the same note, college isn't high school. They aren't as kind and caring to their students sometimes. Make sure you know what you are getting into by talking to your teacher. Ask them if you're ready to take statistics at the local college.

If you know what lies ahead, then you can make the choice to take the class. Leave plenty of time for studying and get a tutor straight away if you realize you may struggle. Students must fend for themselves in college as most profs, unlikes high school, don't care if they give you an F on the midterm.

Try to get an english speaking prof if possible! Good luck. The math credit will look nice once you do enter college.

Statistics really has a mind of its own, it isn't like other kinds of math. The main reason to take Calculus or something similar would be to expand your mind to the point where you can understand Stats, but it doesn't carry over like Pre-Algebra to Algebra to Geometry, etc... Honestly, I'd say go ahead and skip it. I'm terrible at math, so Stats took a lot of extra work for me. But I didn't take Calculus and I did fine. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine.

AHHH NO!!! Statistics is not math. Yes, I know that they group it with math but the concepts are completely different from anything else...well with that said if you suck at calc it may be your thing. No I take that back.

i think you should....my friend is really bad with calc..but doing very well in statistics....and she stated that...its 2 different math

its always good to take math for all 4 years, but it isnt necessary.

Statistics is very different from calculus. I'm terrible at math but I got an A in statistics in college .

Well I Learned That If Your Not Having Fun Then DONT Stick With It! And If You Are In A Room Were Everybody Getting The Problems And Your The Only One Who Dosen't Get It Then It Won't Be Very Fun. I've Been In Situations Like That Before.

But On The Other Side You Might Actully Get Better At It If You Practice.

So It's Your Choice. I Hope I Helped.

An introductory probability & statistics does NOT require calculus, usually a good grounding in algebra because of all the formulas. It's not just the formulas though, there are a lot of them that are similar and you have to know when to use each. But just a first-level stats class doesn't require calculus.

don't expect an easy way out with ap stat. a bunch of my friends decided to take it this year cause they thought it would be a breeze, its not. its definitley easier tthen ap calc, but in some ways only. do not skip a year of math. colleges hate that and you will struggle getting into a decent one. Ap stats will definitely get you more college credit if you take it at a college, so thats a good idea. always go above and beyond. good luck

Yeah i would say statistics at a local college would probably be ok. You will be a year older and frankly when I was in AP classes in high school, those classes were WAY harder than the freshman level classes I took in college.. .seriously! And Calculus really sucks anyways... so many darn rules to remember

Stats classes vary, but the ones that I took for my undergrad psychology degree didn't require any prior math knowledge beyond the algebra we learned in 7th or 8th grade (eg. order of operations and solving some really basic equations.) I didn't take any math in high school after 11th grade (not saying that was technically a good idea, but it worked out fine), and I did well in statistics.

properly, my answer is probably no longer the main efficient because of the fact i've got not taken records, yet I even have taken pre-Calc (and am taking Calc now), so i can inform you approximately that! Pre-Calc features a great form of "complicated" algebra, and frequently messy algebra and a lot of Trig. i'm going to dig up my previous pre-Calc text cloth and post a pair occasion issues for you. devoid of understanding precisely how "undesirable" you're at math, it rather is slightly difficult to make a suggestion, yet i can inform you that pre-Calc became exceptionally complicated in the adventure that your algebra skills are not sharp. Are those your in trouble-free terms 2 math classification selections? this is the table of Contents from my pre-Calc text cloth (via ways, I took pre-Calc back in 2006 and am in simple terms now taking Calc...i do no longer propose waiting between the two!) a million. subjects from Algebra 2. Graphs and applications 3. Polynomials and Rational applications 4. Inverse, Exponential, and Logarithmic applications 5. The Trigonometric applications 6. Analytic Trigonometry 7. applications of Trigonometry 8. structures of Equations and Inequalities 9. Sequences, sequence, and threat 10. subjects from Analytic Geometry

Stats is not like calc or algebra at all. It totally different than any other math. I loved it. Some people really struggle with it. I would try it though.. it's pretty fun!

Statistics is only loosely related to calculus, as long as you can understand concepts about samples and populations you'll be fine. It is a course that will require a lot of thinking though, you can't just brush answers off, you have to be methodical.

Calculus and stats is not even necessary unless you are going to major in physics or math.

Statistics is full of calculus, so I wouldn't recommend taking it if you struggle that much!

I think you should put more time practicing. The more practice you do, the better you get. Why give up on something if you are bad at it?

Only if you really enjoy calculus/it's necessary for your career.
