Her mistake is in line 2. You must complete all multiplication and division steps prior to doing addition and subtraction steps. She subtracted 1 from 2 prior to dividing by that 2 or multiplying the 6 and 4. It should have been performed as

line 2 12 -1 + 5 (6 and 4 were multipled together, then divided by 2).

line 3 16 (1 was subtracted and 5 was added for a new of +4)

follow BODMAS rule

line 1. 6(4) / 2 -1 +5

line 2. 24/2 -1 +5

line 3. 12 -1 +5

line 4. 12 + 4

line 5. 16

first step

step 1: 6(4) ÷ 2 − 1 + 5

step 2, multiply 6x4: 24÷ 2 − 1 + 5

step 3, divide 24/2: 12-1+5

step 4, subtract, 12-1: 11+5

step 5, add: 16
