I have 888 numbers, most of them are 4 digits, sometimes 3 digits, and a handful of them are 2 digits. I need to find a way to add them all together. I have excel, but I can't figure out how to add 888 numbers on it, and my windows calculator takes to long since I can't copy and paste the numbers and have it add it all up for me. I tried to do this the old fashioned way but there are too many numbers! Help!

on the 889th cell in excel type this =sum(

then click on the first cell and hold the mouse key where you have the 1st number enter then scrow all the way down holding the left mouse button and release it on the cell where you have the last number enter.

Then simply type enter.

What format are the numbers in? If you have them in a text file, one to a line, then copy or rename that to have a .csv suffix ("comma-separated values" file) and open that with Excel. Don't worry about the lack of commas...those are only to separate values on a row. Each text file line is treated as a new row automatically.

You should get a spreadsheet with 888 rows and just one column, and you can sum that easily.

with excel, have all the numbers in separate cells, doesn't really matter how there organized, but a collumn makes the most sense. in any other cell type "=SUM(" then select all of the 888 numbers, (by click and dragging your cursor over all of them, or if they are in a collumn, you can just select the letter that the collumn is on) and press enter. Excel will add up all of the cells that you had selected

make a text file with the 888 numbers in it separated by carriage returns.

Save the file as a text file. If you can, find the file, right click on it's name, and select open with excel. If you can't do that, then open excel, then open the file from excel. Click in cell A2 and type "= sum(A1:A888)" then press enter. The sum will appear in that cell.

its easy. you just enter all the numbers in one column one after the next. you would end up on the 888 cell. you then highlight the entire column up to to the 889 cell and click the auto sum symbol and there you will get your answer.

OR

lets say you enter all the values in column D.

all your values would reach down to cell 888 in column D.

In the 889 cell in column D you will type in the formula =sum (D1 : D888) and then press enter. you will get your answer.

Use a calculator; like a regular one?

If it doesn't work; face it. Keep your butt down somewhere and add 'em up.
