The number codes 3894, 3855, 2755, 4382 represent the words WALL, YELL, SWAY, WARS, but not in the same order. The code for LAWYERS is
A 5732594
B 5728934
C 5832794
D 4972385

This one is from a "gifted kid" test in Australia targetting year 4 in primary school. I managed to work it out after several minutes. Shamed on me! I would never pass this test if given to me when I was a kid.

But my child at 8 years old, early year 3 in primary, worked it out in about 2-3 minutes using pattern matching. She rapidly pointed out the pattern 55 and 38 imbeded in the 4 numbers and confidently put the four words to the four numbers. Then the rest is really simple translation of characters to numbers to get the answer C 5832794

She is strong in all strands of mathematics comparing to her peers. Any website to recommend about word challenges?

How do you rate her? extremely smart, very smart, smart or normal.

For an 8 year old, that is very good. Actually, for any age, she is very talented. She has a very good mind for matching patterns and I bet she has good spacial relations. Try looking at puzzle books by Mensa or have her try Sudoku. Pattern games are very fun for those who enjoy quickly picking up on concepts. There's a card game called "Set" that is all about patterns that requires 2 people that you can buy and have her play with.

I hope that this helps.

Kid sounds pretty smart to me. Especially that she is determined enough to stay focused long enough to do a tough problem. I kind of like "text twist" on yahoo games. Its not too difficult and would improve her spelling and vocabulary.

I wouldn't rely on other people to rate your child. She should be rated against her own progression. Don't let her learn that you believe others should judge her intelligence. :). She is who she is. Ok on to a math question :).
