There are 12 inches in a foot so divide 66 by 12 to get your answer:
66 inches = 66/12 feet = 5.5 feet.

A lot of people are mixing imperial and metric. In the UK before we switched to metric there was 12 inches in a foot, When you divided 66in by 12 the answer is 5 feet and 5 inches As we are talking about inches where 12 make a foot, half a foot is not 5 inches but 6 To be five and a half feet tall you would need to measure 67 inches

One foot is equivalent to 12 inches, so 66 inches would be equal to 5 feet and 6 inches. To convert 6 inches into feet, you would divide 6 from twelve which would result in 0.5. That is why google gave he answer that 66 inches is 5.5 feet or 5 feet and 6 inches. Both are correct.

6 inches is half a foot, or 0.5 ft. It is just multiple ways of representing the same thing. Like saying 6 months, or half a year or 0.5 years.

Okay. 0.5 feet IS 6 inches because 0.5 is the same as 1/2. And 1/2 of one foot is 6 inches. Get it?
5.5 does equal 5 foot 6 inches.

To convert inches to feet multiply the inches by feet per inch.
(inches)*[(feet)/(inch)] = feet
Number of feet in 66 inches = (66 inches)*(1 foot/12 inches) = (66/12)feet = (5 and 6/12)feet = (5 and 1/2) feet = 5.5 feet.
To convert feet to inches multiply the feet by inches per foot.
(feet)*[(inches/foot) = inches
The number of inches in 5.5 feet = (5.5 feet)*[(12 inches)/(1 foot)] = [(5.5)*(12)]inches = 66 inches

Yes, it's 5 foot, 6 inches, and that's what google said as well. 5.5 means five and a half feet.

Yet another reason the Imperial system is dumb. 6 inches is 0.5 feet.
Update: 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, 5280 feet in a mile, 7.48 gallons in a cubic foot, 8.34 lb/gallon of water, 100F = average human butt temperature, 0F = freezing point of really salty brine.
Or: 100 cm = 1 m, 1000 m = 1 km, 1000 liters in a cubic meter, 1 liter water = 1 kg, 100C = boiling water at 1 atm, 0C = freezing point of water at 1 atm.
Take your pick.

Here's how to work problems like this
You know 12in = 1 ft
This makes the unit converters (1ft/12in) = 1, and (12in/1ft) = 1
Given 66in multiply by (1ft/12in), the "in" cancel top and bottom leaving "ft"
66in (1ft/12in) = 5.5ft
To convert the .5ft to inches:
.5ft (12in/ft) = 6in
Since we multiplied by (1) we know:
66in = 5.5ft = 5ft 6in = 5 1/2 ft
.
