PART 1:

The total possible points would be if the student got all 30 questions correct, each worth 4 points. That would be 120 points possible.

PART 2:

You are told the student got n questions correct and each is worth 4 points:

--> 4n points (for correct answers)

You are also told the student got m questions incorrect for -1 point each:

--> -1m

(or just -m)

Finally the k questions they didn't answer are each worth 0, so you can ignore that.

Total points scored:

4n - 1m

= 4n - m

The student's total score as a ratio of points earned (4n - m) to points possible (120) would simply be:

Answer:

4n - m

. 120

ok i'm gonna give this a try but i'm warning you it may be totally wrong cuz i'm no mathematician. i think the expression would be 30=4n+1m+0k. 30 is the total questions. 4n is 4 x the # of correct questions. 1m is 1 x the # of incorrect questions and 0k is 0 x the number of questions left blank. i think the total # of points she can get on this test is 120 because its possible for her to get 100% right and its a 30 question test and each correct question is 4 points and 30 x 4 is 120. i hope this right, if not i'm sorry. i don't even know if this is what you were asking lol. good luck.

If its 30 questions, and each correct answer is worth 4 points, 30x4=120. So wouldn't it be 120 possible points?

well since 4 points for each correct answer meand that poccible points are 4 X 30 = 120 is max. amt of points student can get.

ratio is : (4n - m + k) (students score) : 120 (points out of)

1. 30(4) = 120 possible points

2. (4n-m)/120
