Why do I get an error message on my TI-89 when I try to take the log of very small numbers?

For some reason, I have been getting an error message when I have tried to take the log of a very small number on my TI-89 Titanium graphing calculator. For example, when I try to compute the log of (2 x 10^-9) on my TI-89 Titanium, I get an error message that reads "Name is not a function or program." However, when I enter the EXACT same expression into a TI-84, it displays "-8.69897," which is the correct answer. Why am I getting an error message when I try to do this calculation with my TI-89, and how can I fix this??

I tired it on my TI-89 titanium and did not get an error. First question is how exactly are you entering the calculation? are you using LN above x button? or are you using log(2*10^-9)?

All I can say without further details is that the error is usually because you type the name of a function wrong, normally this would happen when you are trying to use a program or function that you made yourself and mispell it. If you want you can message or e-mail me with more details and I can help you further.

those 2 equations are in simple terms horizontal strains. Is that what you had to do? I doubt it. I in simple terms did a attempt with my TI-80 3. which could artwork. you're able to set your window first. whilst i attempted to apply zoom selection 0 "ZoomFit", I have been given the comparable blunders. Use zoom selection 6, 'ZStandard' to start and then use the window button to set the window the way you desire.

Nope. Selected from the catalog of functions. Still get the "name is not a function" error. How 'bout the function from your catalog? is that a function? Isn't a function a function when I select it from the catalog?

This isn't user error, this is a glitch. When it comes to log functions, the Ti-89 is a glitch *****
