I have about a 93 percent in math. If my grade for the midterm is a 89 will that bring my grade down alot? at our school, the midterm is three days. So i just took part 1 today, and i know i got 1 question wrong. but she never told us that it would be on the midterm. and i checked with everyone else in my class and they did not know how to do it. Will she take the question away? She did that on one test we had before. Also, the other class who takes the same math, knew the type of question would be on the midterm. How are your midterms at your school?

I think you should be fine. 89 is still a great mark on a midterm, not to mention you have two more chances to bring it back up. Although, I don't believe that should bring your mark down any more than one percent. However, the marking system at your school could be different than mine. And it would be up to your teacher whether or not she would take that question off.. Personally, at my high school, we normally only have one day midterms (or they'll split the test into two days). And they've always been easy and unless you totally bombed it, it wouldn't effect your mark much at all. You seem like a very smart person though and I am sure you will do great! Good luck anyways!!

Assuming she grades on some sort of a curve, and nobody got that question right, then everyone's grade would go up as if you got it right.

For instance, if the question was worth 3 points, and nobody in the class got it right, but Myron Poindexter got every other question right, then Myron would get 97%, but all grades would be raised 3 points to get myron a 100%.. including yours! I think 90% counts as being an "A" these days, so a 93% average with a midterm of 89% will still be something over 90%.

You worry too much. Those grades mean almost nothing in the long run. After you get your degree in quantum mechanics, you have the joy of appling that knowlege by working in WalMart.

Whoa, relax, getting an 89 probably won't bring your grade down that much (if at all), if you had a 93 (assuming that your midterm isn't worth more than say 20% of your semester grade) In my honors classes, if everyone gets a question wrong, the teacher would most likely omit it.. and generally speaking most people do worse on their midterms compared to their class averages. for example, I got an 82 on my Algebra midterm when my grade was 91... my grade remained in the A- range though.

I know it's stressful you just need to find a way to relax. The worst thing you can do is just freak out over it. Study but don't attempt to cram tons of info that you don't know in a short time period. Focus on things you know, attempt at least one question for everything you've gone over and see how you did so you know what you should study. As for the previous part you completed don't worry over one question too much. No one on here can possibly have any clue as to whether your teacher is going to drop a question, if it's on the test I assume it was there to be graded and don't know why you think anything different. How much of an effect the midterm has is usually up to the professor/school/dept different classes in different places taught by different people have a different grade breakup :)

Good luck

midterms at my school are done over 3 days. the tests are 1 and a half hours long and you just go in when you have tests.
