If volume of an object is a function ,f(x), then d/dx(V) will be surface area.

Thus Integral of 2*Pi*y*dx ( with in limits a & b)will give surface area of the object generated by the curve y=f(x) rotated between a & b about x axis.

Width x height = sq. ft. ( for a square or rectangle ) or width x length.
