EXCEL HELP! Plotting a graph w/ specific x-axis values please!?
hello! i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to specify what you want the x axis values to be on excel, and then how to make many lines appear above said values. it'd be super helpful!
thanks!

As always, there are several ways. The easiest is to highlight your column/row with the x values first, then the y values [use the control key], then start the make graph bit [chart wizard - type.....

If they don't turn out the way you want, select the graph, right click and choose source data, assuming you've chosen x,y, pick the series tab and you can select what data you want where from there.

the lines above and below - create the y data from the values you have for each of the lines [you haven't given enough info to do this better] using, say, a formula. Use the same x values to generate 2 more lines.

Wow, what an ambiguous question. If you want to plot something in excel, you have to start with a table of data. For example, say we wanted to graph a sine function on the interval from 0 to 2*pi. You would start by typing in the first few x values in a column, say 0, 0.05, 0.10. Then highlight those cells and grab the fill handle in the corner and drag down until you get to 2*pi. Now go back to the top of the column and in the next column, type in =sin(A1) assuming A1 is the cell directly to the left. highlight the cell and drag down to complete the two-column data. Highlight the data, press the chart button, and make a scatter plot with the points connected.

make two columns- one for x values and one for y

then when you want to make the chart highlight both of them and hit

insert->chart->chart type and your x should be displayed on the correct axis.

as for the lines i'm guessing you mean output y values so those will be there too if you follow those steps

use one column for the x values, and one column for the y values

then drag highlight the whole block, and use a Scatter graph to get what you want
