Okay Im in year 11 and i have a whole new future to look forward to. I 100% want to be a hardware/software/electrical engineer. After sixth form i want to go UNI and maybe study engineering. At the moment i have decided to choose ICT level 3, Physics A-level and d&t graphics a level. I am confident with all these subjects but to become an engineer you need maths a level. The problem is I'm terrible at maths and just about get a C in the foundation. But i need a level maths to become an engineer should i pick maths?

It sounds like you have two options:

1. Try really REALLY hard in Maths this year. do you have a friend who's good who could help? or a teacher you could ask for some extra sessions? or the means to pay for a private tutor (my friend who was working at a C grade got one and is now on track to get an A)? If you work really hard throughout this year, work in the textbook in the evenings at home, or on mymaths, you should be able to improve in time for your GCSE and get something higher, as long as you can persuade them to put you in for the Higher paper!

2. Give up on being an engineer. Find another career path that you will be able to get the grades to pursue.

If you want really badly to get better at maths so you can be an engineer, you're going to have to work at it. Good luck! I hope everything goes well for you!

You have no choice if you want to become engineer: calculus I, II, III, matrix theory, linear algebra, and differential equations as a core foundation. On the next layers you need more advanced math such as advanced calculus, mathematical analysis, partial differential equations, numerical analysis, complex variables, discrete math, probability, statistics.
